City Bans Home Shepherding

The Apex, NC  Town Council banned Home Shepherding this week after complaints resulting form the arrest of David Watts on 33 Counts of Animal Cruelty.  Watts was arrested after Police found several sheep grazing in the town cemetary.  Tracing the Sheep back to Watts home in Downtown Apex, Police found 77 sheep living inside the house and in the backyard along with several chickens.  Conditions were so bad that verterinarians had to Euthanize many of the sheep and officials were lead to investigate another flock kept by Watts in Chatam County.

Neighbors were angry that it had taken so long to get the town to do something about the smell coming from Watts Urban Sheep Farm.  Neighbor Trish Creta asked, "''I don't understand why it's gotten to this level. I think I deserve answers because I haven't been able to use my backyard.''   An unnamed town official replied that "Watt had basically 'Pulled the Wool' over their eyes claiming all the sheep were pets.

Watts, 47, was being held at the Wake County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond and was to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.

Remember that though Home Production of wool and mutton is not very lucrative, If Sheep are Outlawed, Only Outlaws will have Sheep.
